Today Harissa is increasingly important in Morocco, the Middle East, Israel and Europe. The mixture differs depending on the region, but the Tunisian Harissa spice mixture is the hottest as it has the largest percentage of chili pepper in it.

Traditionally, this spice blend flavors harissa soups, pasta, rice dishes, couscous or mezze. In Europe, Harissa is often used for stews with tomato sauces or to marinate chicken, lamb, or fish. It also makes a nice spicy dipping sauce for grilled meats.
