Delicious Lassi Recipes

Lassi - is a delicious Indian yoghurt drink that is available in a wide variety of flavours in Asian and Eastern European countries. It is also called Ayran.

In India, lassi is often enjoyed with spicy dishes because natural fat content in the drink reduces the spiciness of the food. It also stimulates digestion.

Different variations

Lassi is always based on yoghurt but comes in many variations. We've selected 4 recipes that give you a good overview of the ranges in flavours.

Basic Recipe

Ingredients for one serving

  • 1 cup of water
  • ¼ cup of plain yoghurt
  • ½ teaspoon of sugar

Preparation

Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix well.

Lassi for Digestion

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water
  • ¼ cup of plain yoghurt
  • 1 pinch of ground ginger
  • 1 pinch of ground cumin
  • 1 pinch of ground coriander
  • 1 pinch of salt

Preparation

  1. Mix all ingredients in a blender for one minute.
  2. Serve chilled and ideally after lunch.

Sweet Lassi

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water
  • ¼ cup of plain yoghurt
  • 1 pinch of cardamom
  • Rose water (to taste)
  • Sugar (to taste)

Preparation

  1. Put all ingredients in a blender and mix for one minute.
  2. Serve chilled and ideally after lunch.

Mango Lassi

ingredients

  • 1 cup of water
  • ¼ cup of plain yoghurt
  • 1 large mango

Preparation

  1. Peel the mango and cut into small cubes. Then puree in a blender with water (the mango pieces should just be covered with water).
  2. Add the rest of the water and the natural yoghurt and mix until the lassi is creamy. Enjoy!
