Red Hawaiian salt is undoubtedly one of the most special salts that are used in the kitchen. It is made exclusively on the island of Molokai and is something out of the ordinary for Hawaiian residents. The extraordinary substance that is responsible for the coloration of the Hawaiian Red Salt is: Alaea. This clay is of volcanic origin and is exceptionally rare. The iron oxide contained in it supplies the red color.
