Medjool dates originate in Morocco but are nowadays cultivated in Israel, Tunisia, Palestine and California too. It takes 6 - 8 years until the date palm trees are mature enough to produce the first date harvest But the wait is worth it because each palm can yield up to 100 kg of fruits per year!
The skin of Medjool dates is thinner and they are softer and juicier than other date varieties. That is what makes them perfect as a snack on their own as well as delicious ingredients in a wide variety of cakes and desserts.
