Weingut Polz Ried Obegg Chardonnay GSTK 2018, 0,75 l

The steep slopes of the "Obegg" in southern Styria are known far beyond the borders of the region for producing unique wines. This region can justifiably carry the "Große Lage" appellation which distinguishes outstanding sections of a vineyard.

The mineral-rich soil is perfect for Chardonnay vines. This grape variety also likes being aged in 500-litre oak barrels. This 2018 is a rarity at the start of its drinking maturity. However it is immediately clear that this wine can easily mature for another 15 years or more.

Dry, taut and mineral on the palate. Notes of stone fruit, meadow herbs and a hint of roasted flavour are very complex. The minerality is clearly noticeable in the salty, powerful, long finish.
