The Silva cheese offers a culinary experience that is second to none! The soft, red cheese is aged for six weeks in South Tyrolean spruce bark. Gebhard Steiner, the senior manager of the Eggemoa cheese factory, goes out to his own forest to cut down the appropriate trees for this bark himself. The creamy cheese takes on the intense, slightly sour taste of bark resin and forest soil. The cheese is a true treat for real cheese gourmets.
The Silva tastes best cold, but can also be heated up in the oven. A fruity white wine makes the perfect companion to this cheese.
