Nutmeg and Mace
Myristica fragrans
Use:
The seeds and seed coats are used dried, ground and whole. Nutmeg goes with everything savory: vegetable soups, potato dishes, sauces, eggs, and fish and meat dishes. Mace used similarly to nutmeg, but it also seasons desserts, puddings and Christmas cookies.
Origins:
Nutmeg is originally from New Guinea, but today it is found mainly in tropical areas such as Mauritius, Brazil and Madagascar.
